Little Girl All Grown Up

November 24th, the day she was born
"She's going to be a hand full," Grandpa warned
Big Girl is something she would never part
Short little girl from the very start

Blue eyes and bouncing curls
Always playing with her Nana's pearls
Mommy's finger in one hand and Big Girl in the other
Cole Slaw was the only thing she'd eat, oh brother!

Screaming, "Pickin' my nose!" in the grocery store
Rotten to the core
Little Mermaid and Baby Bop
"Once you get her talking, she will never stop"

Walking into Kindergarten with a grin
Roller skates and sit and spins
Singing, "I like it I, love it, I want some more of it"
Slamming cabinets and pitching a fit

Ridy-hi and Rye-Rye were her names
And "one more thing Mariah" is what she became
Birthday parties, sleepovers, and friends galore
A smile, she always wore

Elementary school was gone before their eyes
Daddy's little buddy, she'd never deny
Middle school dances and cute, little crushes
Growing up seemed like such a rush

High school seemed like it dragged along
But in reality, she was wrong
Big dreams of being a math teacher would soon be achieved
She knows she can do it as long as she believes

No longer a little girl
But still "rotten to the core"
Winthrop, Columbia College, who knows
But now she is ready to fly and go
